Evolution Riesling- Wine Tasting 10

Name: Evolution Riesling

Variety: Riesling

Region: Columbia Valley, Oregon

Country: United States

Vintage Year: 2017

Price: $14

Winery Review: "3.7/5 (quality), 3/5 (value). It's moderately sweet, slightly effervescent, less acidic than many other examples. Easy to drink (not that complex), well-layered fruits (pineapple, apricot, lemon, apple, and pear), and hints of petroleum. Ordinary value. Paired well with fried oyster and seaweed oyster soup."

Wine Folly: "An aromatic white variety that can produce white wines ranging in style from bone-dry to very sweet. Germany is the world's most important producer of Riesling. Off-dry Riesling wines make a great pairing to spicy Indian and Asian cuisines and do excellently alongside duck, pork, bacon, shrimp, and crab." (pg. 158)

My Review: Evolution's Riesling was very lightly yellow-tinted in my glass. It smelled of a light bright white grape with notes of apricot and peach and a hint of lemon. Upon the first sip, the wine reminded me of the clear and yellow gummy bears. It was very acidic and mouth-puckering but contrastingly smooth on the throat. It was loaded with apricot, pineapple, peach, and grapefruit zingy flavors with a small honey aftertaste. It was semi-sweet but not overly sweet. I am not a big fan of apricots, pineapples, or peaches so it's safe to say that I will more than likely not be purchasing this wine again. Overall, I give Evolution's Riesling a 4/10.

I had this on its own with no food.

Cheers,

Morgan
