Winery Review: "Paired with poultry the wine went well with the dish. Medium-high tannins and acid. Tastes of oak, mocha, tobacco dark fruit and vanilla. I purchased this wine at my local grocery store for $6.99. Great price point. It didn’t break the bank."

Wine Folly: "A rich, powerful, and sometimes meaty red wine that originated in the Rhone Valley of France. It's the most planted grape of Australia, where it's called Shiraz. Darker meats and exotic spices bring out the fruit notes of Syrah. Try it with lamb shawarma, gyros, Asian five-spice pork, and Indian tandoori." (pg. 172)

My Review: This bold, slightly acidic lighter coloured red blend was a solid pick. I bought this on a whim after seeing it was ranked highly (and on sale) at Wegmans. While it wasn't as flavorful or complex as some of the other red wines I've tasted, I enjoyed it. I could taste the raspberry and strawberry with subtle oaky nature tastes. It was more acidic than other wines but it wasn't overwhelmingly acidic. The tannic components of this blend were very minimal, I wish it had a bit more structure. I would buy this wine again but, it wasn't my #1 favorite red wine. Overall, I give Valiant's Red Blend a 7.5/10.

I had this on its own with no food.

Cheers,

Morgan
