Winery Review: "Fragrant and savory, with notes of garrigue, dark chocolate, salted plum, meat marinade, and Provençal herbs. The texture on the palate evokes Cabernet or even Petite Syrah in structure and timbre, further demonstrating the multifaceted appeal of this sonorous wine. The Turley Estate has Volcanic and Alluvial soil. Their last planting was in 2011. Wines are aged in barrels (80% used oak, 20% new) for 15 months."

Wine Folly: The hearty, bold flavors in Zinfandel make it a natural companion for the rich and flavorful world of BBQ. If you want to pair it with cheese, reach for sharp cheddar, smoked gouda, or grilled halloumi. The flavors in Zinfandel range depending on how ripe the grapes are. Typically, on the nose you’ll find juicy red berry flavors such as strawberry or raspberry in wines from cooler areas. For wines made in warmer climates, flavors turn to deeper black fruits. There is always a rich baking spice and underlying peppery note."

My Review: One word...wow. This dark cherry wine looked and smelled luscious. On the nose it packed a punch of dark fruits. On the first sip you can really taste the baking spices and it had a touch of leather and earthy vegetation. This is a bold, full bodied wine with jammy cherries, plums and blackberries. The wine was smooth and had soft to medium tannins. It leaves a nice aftertaste of rich fruits on your tongue. I wish it had a bit more tannins but I really can't complain as this was a great wine. Overall, I give Turley Estate's Zinfandel a 9.5/10.
